Hugo Treffner Gymnasium (HTG) offers students three fields of study: science, natural sciences, and humanities.

The science track classes (A and B) focus on mathematics, physics, and technology. In-depth knowledge is provided for students interested in fields such as technology and engineering. Practical work in HTG and the University of Tartu laboratories supports the application of knowledge.

The natural sciences track (C) strongly emphasizes biology and chemistry. Students gain hands-on experience through practical sessions, field trips to research institutions, and preparation for careers in natural sciences and medicine.

The humanities track classes (D and E) study culture, literature, languages, and history in depth. Students have the opportunity to participate in humanities-related practical training, which supports the application of knowledge and the development of analytical skills.

The school has approximately 540 students and nearly 50 teachers. To support students' interests, HTG offers around 50 elective courses, such as photography, psychology, bibliotherapy, creative writing, Swedish and Latin, drafting, entrepreneurship, software development, and "Mind and Artificial Intelligence." In collaboration with universities, courses are offered to help students prepare for national exams and further studies in higher education.

HTG provides a supportive and inspiring environment for learning and personal growth. A school psychologist, student counselor, and student council offer advice and support in both academic and personal matters.

As of 2023, student lists are no longer published on the school’s website.
